Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about playing Who Said It. Can't find what you need? Get in touch.

What is Who Said It?
A party game for friends in the same room. Everyone plays on their own phone through the website, writing answers, voting and guessing who wrote what. There are seven modes, from the original Classic to the newspaper mystery Who Is It.
Is it free?
Yes. The whole game is free to play. The site shows some ads, which keep it running.
Do I need to download an app or make an account?
No. Just open whosaidit.party in your phone's browser, type your name and join with the table code. If you'd like it on your home screen, the game offers to install it like an app.
How many players do I need?
Between 3 and 12. Two Truths and a Lie, Hot Takes, Chain Story, You Drew That? and Partners in Crime work with 3. Classic, Who Is It, I Have a Confession and Red & Green Flags need at least 4.
How long does a game take?
Usually 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the mode and how many people are playing. Everyone gets one turn in the spotlight per game.
Do we all need to be in the same room?
It's designed for that, because reading the answers out and watching everyone's faces is the best part. It works over a video call too, as long as everyone has the site open on their own device.
Someone lost connection. How do they get back in?
They open the site again and join with the same table code. Their profile is recognised, so they go straight back to their seat with their score.
Someone left halfway through. Can a new person take their place?
Yes. The host can open their seat from the players menu, and a new arrival can take it over, score and all.
Can we play on a TV?
Yes. Start the table on a phone, then open whosaidit.party/?tv on the TV or computer and type the table code. Everyone keeps playing on their phones while the big screen shows the cards and results.
Are the answers really anonymous?
Yes. In Classic, nobody's phone is told who wrote which answer until the questioner has made their guess, so not even a curious player can peek.
Can I vote for my own answer?
Only if the host allowed it when creating the table. Even then, a vote for your own answer counts towards picking the funniest but never earns points.
Who wins?
The player with the most points once everyone has had their turn. Most modes finish with awards too, so even the last-place player gets a title.
Is it suitable for kids?
The game itself has no adult content, but players write whatever they like, so it's best for groups who know each other. It isn't aimed at children.
What happens to what we write?
It's only used to run your game and is shared with the people at your table. Nothing is kept once the table's session ends. See the privacy policy for the details.
Where do the sound effects and pictures come from?
The soundboard sounds were made by Khalid, and the profile pictures and hats are drawn for the game. Chain Story's extra sound effects come from free-to-use libraries.
I found a bug or have an idea for a mode.
